When I first made the decision to start a blog I wasn’t sure where it would take me. I was clueless whether it would work out or what exactly to expect. All I knew was I wanted to write. I knew writing about organizing would be a great fit for me because organizing has always been something I enjoy doing for myself and others. The trick was going to be learning how to bring in an income with my blog.
While talking with someone the other day about my blog, they asked if it’s really possible to make money by having a blog. This isn’t something I talk about too much since Happily Ever Uncluttered is mainly about organizing. But when given the chance, I love to share how Happily Ever Uncluttered has continued to grow and bring in an income month after month.
At first, the income was small. In fact, it took at least a year of working and learning before I could say I was bringing in any kind income. However, the short answer is yes! Yes, I am able to make money every month by having a blog. The money comes with lots of work, lots of time, lots of patience, and lots of learning.
Though there are multiple ways to bring in an income through your blog, I am going to share with you the top three ways Happily Ever Uncluttered brings in a monthly income.
Top 3 sources of income for Happily Ever Uncluttered:
Freelance Writing/Ghost Writing/Editing
I love to write. I also love to edit. So why not write and edit for other people and get paid for it! When you write for other people you are able to explore other areas of writing and try new things that you may not be able to touch on with your own blog.
If you’re looking for a writer, you are welcome to check out my portfolio and see some of the articles I have written. I say some because I am not able to share the articles I write for my ghost writing clients, they stay confidential.
If you love to write, but aren’t sure exactly how to get started in the freelance writing world, I highly recommend the Earn More Writing course I took. It is a great course and well worth the money! Holly, the creator/instructor, is a great person to learn from and gives it to you straight.
Another top way I use my site to bring in an income would be with affiliate income. Honestly, when I first started blogging I knew nothing about affiliate income. It wasn’t until I took the Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing course did I understand what it was and exactly how to go about bringing in an income with affiliate marketing.
What helps make this such a great resource for income is the fact that it’s very diverse and very much passive income. Some places I am an affiliate for, and bring in an income through, include:
- Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing
- Earn More Writing
- Book Boss
- Ultimate Bundles
- And some smaller things like referral programs and such
My own products
One of the best things I have done to date for Happily Ever Uncluttered was write an eBook. I love to share my eBook, The Ultimate Guide to Freezer Cooking. I have written a couple posts about it, it’s on my site, and you will always see it at the bottom of my newsletter each week. In addition to my eBook, I also have a children’s book I sell through my site, Cuckoo Cocoa Kokomo. It is so cute (if I do say so myself).
It’s nice to know I have my own products. Knowing that I have created products that bring in a monthly income through my site is an incredible feeling. I am in the midst of creating more items to add to my list of things I have created and look forward to sharing them in the near future.
Though being my own boss and making money through Happily Ever Uncluttered is hard work, it’s a great feeling knowing I have created all this from nothing and that nothing has actually turned into something and helps people every day.
In order to grow, you need to learn, and in the blogging world the way that is done is by taking courses and learning from fellow bloggers.
Without taking the courses I have taken to learn more, I know I wouldn’t be making the money that I am making now. I am thankful for these courses that have helped me grow and enable me to do exactly what I love doing.
If having a blog is something you have considered doing, check out my blogging resources guide to get more information on some of the resources I use or have used with Happily Ever Uncluttered. If you want to learn more about making money through affiliate marketing or becoming a freelance writer I highly recommend the two courses I took.
