Scared and overwhelmed were just a couple feelings I felt when my husband and I had our first born child. How in the world was I going to tend to this baby and keep the house tidy and organized was completely beyond me. Creating a house that lacked clutter and never acquired a speck of dust. Yeah, I was cluelss.
As time went on I learned how to take care of our sweet little bundle of joy. We played all day! When we weren’t playing or when I wasn’t staring at this precious little creation, we were both sleeping. Yep, when she slept, I slept. When she was awake, I was awake. Typical for a new first time mom, right? My world instantaneously became about her. But there quickly became a problem, the only things that were getting done around the house were the bare necessitites and that is all. Personally, I didn’t see what the problem was, our baby was being taken care of and that is all that truly mattered anyway, right?
Well, my husband didn’t see my way of thinking. Despite having a baby in our home he was still going to work every day and wanted to come home to a clean and orderly house. Oh wait – did I fail to mention he was a Marine? Yes – a Marine who believes in order and cleanliness.
At the time we were living in Southern California. We had a cute little house with very high ceilings in the living room. I loved that house.
One day, my sweet Marine (who typically doesn’t have too much to say) came home and had had enough of all my eewing and awwing over our sweet little bundle of joy and ignoring the housework. It became a problem when he couldn’t find things because they weren’t being put back in the right place. Not to mention all the dust that had started accumulating.
That’s when he decided to take matters into his own hands and rid the living room of dust. The problem with that was it wasn’t the old fashioned way of dusting with a rag and furniture polish. No, my Marine of a husband brought in reinforcements.
He called in reinforcements
He sure did! He decided that it was time to bring in an air compressor. Needless to say – I went crazy! An air compressor, has this man lost his ever loving mind! That is still an argument I have yet to forget. He was making a point that he wanted a clean and orderly house again.
In the midst of dust going all over the place (including back on the furniture) and him making his point, some of the dust made its way to the ceiling and exposed the spider webs that were previously being hidden in plan sight. Did I mention we had very high ceilings?
It was clearly a mess! And though I am now able to share in a chuckle with you over this moment 16 years later, at the time I can promise you – I wasn’t laughing and neither was he.
Since then, our first born is much older, the dust stays to a minimum and life is no longer all about her. Nor does my Marine of a husband bring outside tools in the house. Boy how things have changed in our house. But, what about you? How is your house when it comes to clutter and dust bunnies?
Are you ready to conquer your clutter?
Are you at a point in your life where you could bring in some reinforcements? Reinforcements that will bring about order? The reinforcements I am referring, thankfully, have nothing to do with an air compressor. No, this reinforcement won’t expose the cob webs at the top of your ceilings. Instead, the reinforcement I am referring to is called Conquer Your Clutter Super Bundle and it is full of time saving tricks to getting organized, cleaning, meal planning, etc. And if you look closely, you’ll see my eBook in there, too!
